HAZEL HALL IS NAMED IWR INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR 2009

Dr Hazel Hall, Director, Centre for Social Informatics, Edinburgh Napier University Executive Secretary, Library and Information Science Research Coalition, was named IWR Information Professional of the Year at a presentation ceremony held at 5.30pm today in the reception area of the Online Information Conference 2009, Olympia Conference Centre, London. Dr Hazel Hall is an internationally recognised information professional. She is best known for her research and teaching in the areas of information and knowledge management. Equally, she holds a reputation for her active involvement with information and knowledge management practitioners through work with professional bodies, as well as time spent in industry.

The awards are organised by IWR magazine and Online Information Conference organisers, Incisive Media.  Nominations are judged by a panel of previous Information Professional of the Year award winners including; Roddy McLeod, Karen Blakeman, Neil Infield, Euan Semple, Brain Kelly, Tony Hirst and Natalie Ceeney, several of whom attended the presentation ceremony.

 

Deb Hunt, Principal of Information Edge, which specialises in enterprise search consulting, knowledge services, cutting edge research and library creation and automation, also received a Special Commendation for her work as a member for the SLA Board of Directors. 

 

Peter Williams, Editor of IWR magazine, described Hazel during the presentations as an energetic and enthusiastic information professional whose work invigorates the professional landscape, both within and beyond the UK.  2009 has been an outstanding year of achievement for her and one on which future success will be built for the profession as a whole, as well as on a personal level.
